Environmental Impact

Valley Sign + Design

Most people don’t realize how much signage can impact the environment. From the materials used to the energy consumed during production, signs often leave a larger carbon footprint than expected. At Valley Sign and Design, we’ve made it our mission to minimize that impact while helping our customers make greener choices. Here are some of the steps we’ve taken to make sustainable signage a core part of our business.

We are a
Greenspark Partner

We’re thrilled to partner with Greenspark to make a real, positive impact on the environment. For every wood sign we build, 10 trees are planted, supporting reforestation efforts and helping to rebuild ecosystems worldwide. For non-recyclable signs like coroplast, aluminum-composite, and vinyl, we remove 10 pieces of plastic from the ocean with each project. These initiatives let us do more than create exceptional signage, they allow us to give back to the planet and contribute to a greener, cleaner future.

Contributing to a Greener and More Sustainable Future.

One of the key steps we’ve taken is offsetting our production shop’s energy use with 100% renewable sources. While our electricity comes from the conventional power grid, we fully offset our usage by funding renewable energy projects across Canada. This commitment helps expand Canada’s renewable energy capacity, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.

Sustainable
Material Choices

In addition to our energy initiatives, we’ve made sustainable material choices in the products we offer. Our cedar signage is a renewable, durable, and eco-friendly option. We source our cedar locally from British Columbia, reducing the carbon footprint associated with transportation while supporting sustainable forestry practices. Cedar naturally resists decay and requires minimal processing, making it a low-impact choice for both the environment and your business. It also has the added benefit of being easy to maintain and repair, extending the life of your sign and further reducing waste.

Working with Polar

For businesses seeking a sustainable alternative to traditional temporary signage, we’re proud to offer Polar, a recyclable, cardboard-based substrate. Polar’s print-optimized surface ensures stunning visual results, and its lightweight, eco-friendly design makes it a great choice for short-term applications. While it might not suit every signage need due to its material properties, it’s an excellent option for those prioritizing sustainability without sacrificing quality. If you’re looking to minimize environmental waste with your temporary signage, Polar is a choice worth considering.

Choosing Aluminum

Aluminum is one of the most recycled materials on Earth, with about 75% of all aluminum ever produced still in use today. This is because aluminum can be recycled indefinitely without losing quality. Recycling aluminum uses only 5% of the energy required to produce new aluminum, reducing environmental impact, conserving resources, and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. This makes aluminum signage a sustainable choice for businesses looking to reduce their environmental footprint.

Eco-Friendly Solutions for a Greener Future

At Valley Sign and Design, we’re proud of the steps we’re taking to lower our environmental footprint. By offering eco-friendly materials, supporting renewable energy, and partnering with organizations like Greenspark, we’re able to provide sustainable signage solutions that don’t compromise on quality. Join us in making environmentally responsible choices that help preserve the planet for future generations.
